From the Pacific to the Atlantic
Momoyama Ramen & Hawaiian BBQ is a family-run business. Co-owners Michael Suen and Don Chen came together to bring the taste of aloha to the tables of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Michael's Background
Michael, a devoted husband and father of two, grew up in the vibrant culture of Honolulu, Hawai‘i. His culinary journey began as one of the original chefs for L&L Hawaiian BBQ, helping bring island-style comfort food to the masses. After nearly two decades as the beloved “manapua man” in Waimānalo, he now begins a new chapter in Willow Grove at Momoyama Ramen & Hawaiian BBQ, serving Pennsylvania a true taste of Hawaii.
Don's Background
Don Chen was originally from Vietnam. Along with being co-owner of Momoyama, he also manages the Mount Laurel and West Chester Rai Rai Ramen locations. His dedication to authentic ramen shows in every bowl, emphasizing homemade broth because “the stock makes all the difference.” Under his leadership, Mount Laurel has become a favorite for college students and locals, known for quality, noodles, and a streamlined menu that brings the flavors of Hawaii and Japan to the East Coast.
